GTViewer Reader/Writer plugins (8.0.0.1) for FME 2025.2 is available for Testing

GTViewer Reader/Writer Plugins are now available for FME 2025.2.

This is a significant upgrade and has split the reader and writer into two separate plugins to get around some FME limitations.

The new GTViewer Reader still supports GTG files and session graphics in GTX files.  It does a much better job of using embedded Coordinate Factors and can use the parameters to override those values.

The new GTViewer Writer now supports both POINT text and Text geometries (Labeler/TextStore).  Support for FME's UTF-8 only text has also been supported (but it does downgrade to LATIN1 for GTViewer).

-----------

08.00.00.01 - 02/23/26
-----------

- NEW - #8869 - Updated for FME 2025.2.

CHG - #8870 - The FME Plugin has been split into a separate reader and writer.  The Writer will still be GTI_GTVIEWER, but the reader is now GTI_GTVIEWER_READER.   You will probably need to replace your existing GTViewer Readers in your workbenches with the new one, but the existing GTViewer Writers should still work.   This change is to overcome a problem with FME where it can't have different reader and writer file types in a single plugin.

- NEW - #8871 - The default Coordinate Factors for the Reader are no longer required and will use the embedded coordinate factors in a GTG or GTX file if they are available.   The logging will now show the Reader Coordinate Factors and their origin (read from file, overridden with parameters, or default).

- NEW - #8872 - Additional Logging has been added to both the Reader and Writer.

- NEW - #8873 - Text Element support for both Point (legacy) and Text (Labeler/TextStore) geometries.

- NEW - #8874 - Support for FME's UTF-8 text, but it is converted down to Latin1 for GTViewer.

GTech Loader version 10.0.0.79 is Available

GTech Loader version 10.0.0.79

This GTech Loader update has a significant upgrade focused on boosting performance and will likely make a noticeable improvement in your export times.  All the main export loops (graphics and tabular) were optimized to improve performance.  You will get this boost by default.  There is also support for specifying the Oracle Fetch Buffer size which can make significant improvement, but you do have to set the buffer size in the GTech Loader configuration file.  Support for providing Oracle Hints in the SQL queries GTech Loader execute has been added (like /*+ NO_PARALLEL */). This feature was added for those who have minimal resources allocated to Oracle coupled with the many-table joins in GTech.

There were also some Quality-of-Life improvements:

  • More details in the logging, including a new logfile ending in .stats which appends the total tabular and graphic record counts after each run, so you can get a better picture of the export over time and may be able to identify issues the export (such as fewer tabular records exported from the previous time(s)).
  • The Cancel button in the command-line version finally terminates the app and doesn't wait for the current Oracle query to finish.
  • The supported Oracle version is now part of the Title bar text, so you don't have to guess which version you have any more.

Another option was brought back.  You can now choose between using the default dimension elements (reproducing what is in GTech), or using our old style dimensions that were a greatly simplified version of what was in GTech).

-----------
10.00.00.79 - 2/20/26
-----------

- NEW - #8835 - Settings to specify Oracle Hints for Graphics queries and Tabular Queries.

- NEW - #8836 - Setting to specify Oracle Fetch size.

- CHG - #8837 - The Most Recently Used file list was only saved if you did a conversion.  It has been changed to save more frequently.

- FIX - #8838 - If there are Oracle Exceptions in the main Graphics export loop, it will now stop the after 100 exceptions (for the table or feature it is processing)

- NEW - #8839 - The Detail Logfile now shows the total Tabular and Graphics records at the bottom of the file.

- CHG - #8839 - The location of the non-GUI application log file has been moved from the application's directory to %AppData%\Graphic Technologies Inc\GTech_Loader_10.

- NEW - #8840 - The supported Oracle version is now appended to the version number in the title bar.

- CHG - #8841 - Changed the Tabular Count increment from 1000 to 5000 in GUI mode.

- NEW - #8842 - A new .stats file is created with the other logfile and is appended if the file already exists.  This file contains CSV records: Data,Time,ConfigFileName,Property,Value.  The properties are currently Graphic_Rec, Tabular_Recs, and Total_Export_Time.   These statistics can be used to see how your data is growing and if there is an anomaly.

- FIX - #8843 - Cancelling the command-line mode dialog box, did not stop the conversion.  It does now.

-----------
10.00.00.78 - 8/14/25
-----------

- FIX - #8345 - The LIKE operator was not handling all wildcarded cases correctly.

- NEW - #8819 - Support added for using the old Style Dimension elements (instead of GTech ones).

GTViewer for iOS/Android Version 7 is now Available

Version 7 of GTViewer for iOS and GTViewer for Android is now available.

These new clients work with older versions of GTViewer Data Server, but some features are only available when using GTViewer Data Server version 7.

  • Azure IdP Authentication Support: You can now manage access to GTViewer Data Server (Version 7) using Azure IdP. Previous authentication methods remain supported, but the Server Login flow will first ask for the Data Server URL. Depending on the server’s configuration, it will then direct you to the Azure IdP login or prompt for a standard Username/Password.

  • Query Prompt Pick Lists: Borrowing from GTViewer for Windows (Version 20), you can now assign a list of values to a Query Prompt. This allows users to select from a predefined list rather than typing text manually.

  • Custom Feature Names: Also, borrowing from GTViewer for Windows (Version 20), this powerful update allows you to define feature names using any associated attribute values. This is particularly useful when selecting feature in congested areas. By displaying attributes like Circuit Name, Phase, Pressure, or Feature ID, users can easily identify the correct feature. These custom names can also be applied to Attribute Info Titles, placing critical information at the top to save users from scrolling.

  • Customizable Category Lists: The Category Display Manager has been enhanced. Previously, categories were displayed in the order they appeared in the .GTM file (which also dictated rendering order). Now, you can define a custom display order and hide specific categories from the list entirely while maintaining the underlying GTM rendering order.
GTM Order

Customized Order

  • Hide Blank Attribute Values: You can now configure the .GTM file to hide attributes with blank values within the Attribute Info display. This can be applied independently to Data Collection forms as well, ensuring a cleaner, more relevant interface for users.

  • New Attribute Types for Data Collection Forms: Several new attribute types have been added to streamline data entry and tracking:

    • GTI_PROJECT and GTI_WEBAPP_PROJECT: Project-level identifiers.
    • GTI_ELEMENT_TYPE: Provides the type of session graphics selected to start Data Collection form.
    • GTI_DATE: Automatically records the date the data record was last modified.

  • General Fixes and Updates: This release includes numerous fixes for issues identified since the last major version, along with optimizations to ensure full compatibility with the latest updates to the iOS and Android operating systems.

GTViewer 20 BETA version 20019 is Available!

GTViewer 20 BETA version 20.0.0.19 is available.

Major items in this update:

  • This Display Manager was reworked (again) to make it simpler and easier to read. The Category and Feature Tabs have a new Tree View in addition to various List View modes.  Various changes to improve performance were also made.
  • The Category lists in the Display Manager are now customizable through configuration.  Categories can be grouped, hidden, and reordered (without affecting the display of the features).
  • Touch interface has a new simulated Right-Mouse click (by tapping the screen) to access the context menu for reviewing Attribute Info and selecting other modes/commands.   This addition completes the touch interface (pan, zoom, rotate/scale selected, and draw were already available).
  • A new Config file can be delivered with the product to act as a provisioning file for certain settings.
  • Touch Panel is now complete with 10 large buttons ideal for the touch interface.

-----------------------
20.00.00.19 - 01/14/25
-----------------------

- FIX - #8374 - The Capture Area mode was not always letting you place the first point.

- FIX - #8383 - The External Application entries in the External Applications section of the GTM can now use <%equal%> and <%pipe%>.

- NEW - #8384 - The External Application entries in the External Applications section of the GTM will now support a URL (starting with http:// or https://) as a filename.  No path verification is performed for these items.

- NEW - #8387 - A Disable Touch option added to Options menu to prevent the touch mode from activating.

- NEW - #8388 - Show Tooltip option added under View menu.  In GTViewer 15 and before, it was only available on toolbar (and has been removed from the toolbar).

- NEW - #8389 - For Touch, a simulated Right Mouse click with a quick touch in the view allows access to Attr Info, Prox Search, etc.

- NEW - #8390 - Config file now supported for a provisioning-like file to configure certain settings.

- NEW - #8391 - Tuning settings for touch are now available in the config file:  TouchRightMouseMinTouchDuration, TouchMinMoveThreshold, TouchDoubleTapMaxMoveThreshold, TouchDoubleTapMaxTime, DisableTouch, TouchPanel

- FIX - #8382 - Fixes to the Touch Panel to show status correctly for all buttons.

- NEW - #8383 - Touch Panel now includes Proximity Search and Attribute Info.  The Text button was removed.

- FIX - #8384 - When Proximity Search ended, the Attribute Info mode was always activated.  It will now activate Zoom mode if it were the last active mode before Proximity Search Mode.

- NEW - #8385 - The Display Manager has been reworked to provide a Tree View mode for both Category and Feature tabs as well as the List View modes.

- NEW - #8386 - The Display Manager now supports configuration settings to group or hide categories on the Category tab.  The order of the Categories can also be specified (and does not affect the drawing order).

- NEW - #8387 - The Display Manager Feature tab will use the Category Groups and will toggle between feature or component's state when the Display Manager started and Off.  It allows you to toggle between what you had and off versus possibly turning components off and not being able to get them back to their default setting without using the Default or Reset button.

- NEW - #8388 - The Display Manager will show Category Thresholds on the Full Category List View mode and Filter Thresholds on the Filter List View mode.

- NEW - #8389 - The Display Manager now uses an icon to show the state of an item instead of highlighting the whole line.  This change makes it easier to read and cleans up the display a bit.

- NEW - #8390 - The Display Manager feature tab now requires a Category filter.  This improves performance and simplifies finding the feature or component you are looking for as the list of all features and components can be large.

GTViewer Add-On App Bundle Version 3 is Available

A new version of the GTViewer Add-On App Bundle is available. This setup contains several tools to extend GTViewer's functionality and to help admins configure certain GTViewer settings and configuration files (such as queries, presets, tooltips, etc.).

This new bundle was made to support GTViewer 20, but most of the apps will run fine in versions 14 and 15.  The exceptions are the new Proximity Search Builder (GTViewer 20+) and the new Expression Playground (GTViewer 15.0.0.25+).  Most of the apps were updated to use a resizable form in GTViewer 20 and to use GTViewer 20's support for custom icons on the Menus and in the External App Dialog's Title Bar.  The Google Maps Directions app was added and the Find Redlines app was removed (its functionality is now part of GTViewer 20).

There are two groups of these apps in the bundle:

User Apps

  • Import Data: imports a CSV file containing X/Y or Lat/Long values into GTViewer as redlines with the record data embedded as tabular attributes.
  • Show Google Maps: launches a browser with Google Maps showing the same location as the current view in GTViewer.
  • Google Maps Directions: launches a browser with Google Maps showing directions from your current location to the center point of the current View in GTViewer.
  • Get Imagery: downloads raster backdrops for the current view in GTViewer.  You must have a paid subscription with Google Maps, Bing Maps, or Here. to support this feature.

Admin Apps

  • Dynamic Graphics Interface: helps you create and configure Dynamic Graphics (labels and highlights).
  • Expression Playground: helps you create and test GTViewer Expressions (used in many GTViewer configuration settings).
  • Preset Builder: helps you create Display Preset Definition files using the Display Manager in GTViewer.
  • Query Builder: helps you create Query Definition Files using a selected feature in GTViewer.
  • Tooltip Builder: helps you create and test Feature Tooltip Definitions in GTViewer.
  • Find Feature: help you find an instance of a certain type of feature (by Feature or Component) or a specific feature using its Key1 and/or Key2 values.

GTech Redlines XML Files to GTViewer GTG File

The GTGTechXml2Gtg.exe utility is a command-line tool for converting one or more GTech Redline XML files to a GTViewer GTG file.  The GTG file created can be imported into GTViewer using the Draw/Import/Import GTViewer Data from the menus, or it can be use as a GTViewer Category (by creating an index file for it and adding it to your GTM file).

The utility uses a parameter file to provide information necessary for the conversion (this mostly comes from your data's GTM file).  The input can be a specific XML file or a wildcarded (* or ?) path to specify a set of files to convert.  The output is a single GTG file.

The GTGTechXml2GTG utility will be part of GTData, but it is available now (contact support to get it).
